Newbury, NH – (July 1, 2015) – Tim and Diane Mueller, owners of Mount Sunapee Resort, are pleased to announce the Mount Sunapee Scholarship Awards for the 2015 school year. Ten $1,000 scholarships were presented including six Mount Sunapee Council Scholarship Awards which are open to area high school seniors, and four scholarships to Mount Sunapee Resort employee students and employee dependents allowing them to further their academic endeavors. Since 1999, 136 scholarships have been awarded totaling over $329,000.
“Tim and I believe that education is central to our local prosperity and to an individual’s ability to achieve their career goals and lead a fulfilling life,” commented Diane Mueller. “These scholarship programs support our belief of fostering education and enhancing community spirit.”
This year’s scholarships have been awarded to the following students:
Mount Sunapee Council Scholarships
Alicia Lacasse of Newport, NH graduated from Newport High School. Alicia plans to attend Colby-Sawyer College where she will major in Business. She would like to own her own photography business. In high school she was active in the float committee, newspaper club, student council and chorus as well as being a class officer and honor student.
Anthony DiPadova III of Newport, NH graduated from Newport High School. Anthony maintained over a 95 GPA throughout high school and will attend Dartmouth College where he will major in Computer Science. He balanced athletics and academics as he was Captain of the Varsity Ski Team and Captain of the FIRST Robotics Team 5782.
Sam Emery of Sunapee, NH graduated from Sunapee Middle High School. Sam plans to attend the University of Northwestern Ohio where he will major in Automotive Technology and High Performance Engines. He played varsity soccer for four years and was Captain his senior year. He would like to own his own engine rebuilding company.
Kylie Hershey of Sunapee, NH graduated from Sunapee Middle High School. She maintained over a 90 GPA throughout high school and plans to attend Plymouth State University. Kylie’s experience working at Sanctuary Dairy Farm Ice Cream, where she is a Manager and was named Employee of the Year, has helped lead her to a Business Management/Marketing major.
Matthew Roy of Newbury, NH graduated from Kearsarge Regional High School. He is attending the New England Culinary Institute. Matthew would like to become an Executive Chef and own a restaurant. In addition to gaining restaurant experience at Bubba’s and Tucker’s restaurants while in high school he found time to compete on the basketball team at Kearsarge for four years.
Melynda Seaholm of Newbury, NH graduated from Kearsarge Regional High School. Melynda will be attending Colby-Sawyer College and while her major is undeclared at this time, she is considering a major in Business and a minor in Studio Art. She was involved in a long list of community service projects in school and hopes to be able to own a photography business and give back to her community.
Mount Sunapee Employee Dependent Student Scholarships
Alexandra Sailer of Warner graduated from Kearsarge Regional High School. She plans to attend the University of Connecticut where she wants to major in Graphic Design/Digital Media. Alexandra competed on the Ski, Lacrosse and Cheerleading teams throughout high school and was named Captain of the Cheerleading and Ski teams. Her mother, Pipere, is the Sales Manager at Mount Sunapee.
Mount Sunapee Resort Employee Student Scholarships
Geneva Heffernan of Sutton Mills, NH graduated from Kearsarge Regional High School and plans to attend Temple University where she wants to major in Journalism. Geneva has worked for four seasons in the Culinary Department at Mount Sunapee. She was very active in high school in the Drama Club and on the varsity Soccer, Skiing and Lacrosse Teams. She is also a Counselor at Camp Coniston.
Brady Bates of Newport, NH graduated from Newport High School and plans to attend the University of New Hampshire. Brady has worked at Mount Sunapee for four seasons in the Learning Center and as a parking lot attendant. He was named to both the National Honor Society and National Technical Honor Society. He was Class Treasurer and was on the varsity baseball team.
Asher MacLeod of Wilmot, NH is currently attending New England College and is majoring in Elementary and Special Education. Asher has worked two winters at Mount Sunapee in the Retail Department. He was a Work Study intern at Bradford Elementary School for three years and hopes to be a full-time teacher when he graduates.
