MOUNT SUNAPEE STILL BURIED IN SNOW – EXTENDS SEASON UNTIL APRIL 20, 2008

Newbury, NH – (April 9, 2008) – Mount Sunapee Resort has so much snow it has extended the ski season, weather permitting, another week until Sunday, April 20, 2008.  

2007-2008 has been the fourth snowiest winter in Mount Sunapee’s 60 year history, with 144” of snow so far this season.  All of the natural snow combined with season-long snowmaking has trails still covered edge-to-edge with an average of 32-40 inches of base.

Three lifts will be operating daily serving terrain on the Main Mountain, Sunbowl and North Peak for primarily intermediate and advanced skiers and riders.  Late season ticket prices are $46 for adults, $38 for young adults and seniors and $30 for juniors and super seniors.

April 20 will be the 150th operating day of the season making 2007-2008 the second longest season in the resort’s history.  Mount Sunapee opened for the season on November 23, 2007.  In 2000-2001 the resort received 162” of snow and operated 151 days.  The most recent decade, 1998-2008, has been the snowiest decade since Mount Sunapee opened in 1948 by 10%.

2008-2009 Season Passes are currently on sale at special spring rates until April 30.  Season passes start as low as $315 for Mount Sunapee, Okemo and Stratton.  Skiers and riders can purchase their season pass now and ski or ride the rest of this season and all of next season.  Passes can be purchased at the resort, over the phone (603-763-3500) or on-line.
